I'm not sure where they've been or what they've been up to, but the lads are back! I remember watching them smash Shindig to pieces many years ago... at least I think it was the 'dig... anyway, big beats, massive loud noisy vocals and just big room electronica. Nice! Here's a link to their freebee promotional track 'Kiss the sky'. Bloody scary artwork, but I'm very much looking forward to hearing their new album, said to be released in 2010. Watch out!

Episode 004 is by Tom Neville, following his first outing on the Rising Music label with some Nu Disco flavoured house in the form of "Run In Reverse", check the three minute clip below.
Tom's produced 60 minutes of banging and uplifting house beats for you to get stuck into and this is just a taste of what's to come in the Rising Music Sampler, a 6 track mini album, available from 7th December on Beatport.
After three months of the RM Podcast sitting in iTunes' "New and Notable" spot you should watch this space for more podcasts from some of the sickest house DJ's around...
Admittedly, my clubbing days have slowed down somewhat. Queueing, bathrooms covered in pish and young pups with eyes as wide as two penny pieces... lapping up every second of the bass-driven experience. Yeh... more of a once a month thing these days I'm afraid, it's all about the house parties.... What hasn't changed is my shear love for good house music. Be it the latest Fabric CD from the likes of Radio Slave or a fresh promo that lands in my inbox, I love it all more now than ever...
So, when the lovely people at Gatecrasher asked me to review its 93-09 3 disc collection... well... the answer was a straight, "hell yeh - hook me up!". Lets get something clear before I even get started; I'm well aware all the major labels do this, especially around Christmas, Ministry of Sound, Defected... they're all at it, but why not hey?
So, what does "Gatecrasher's Club Anthems 1993-2009" with "60 classic club anthems" have to offer? Well as with any compilation that's based on a time period, it's just hours upon hours of great tunes. My lady and I embarked on a five hour car journey and just hit play. Disk 1 sticks to the bigger trancy sounds you'd expect from 'Crasher; PvD, Tiesto, Faithless, Chicane and Mr Mau5 gets a feature with his lighter than usual 'I remember'. But for us, there were a few little guilty pleasures that seriously haven't been heard in years... iio's 'Rapture', 'Zombie Nation' and a bit of the Utah Saints makes this opening disk a real treat, with the Gatecrasher brand firmly all over it.
Next up, I'd say the doors to the second room are opened. It's house music time baby! X-Press 2, Tori Amos, Armand Van Helden, the Jaxx, our own Seb Ingrosso's 'Kidsos' and the mighty 'Leave the world behind'... a pure hit for an junkie who craves the big room sounds. Personally, after meeting this guy at NYC's Cielo, it's a true delight to see Cevin Fisher's 'The freaks come out' in there... what a thoroughly nice bloke.
Finally, they wrap things up with arguably the best disc; both my lady and I found ourselves bouncing around in the car despite being shackled by our seat-belts.... Felix Da Housecat, Justice, Leftfield, Mylo, M.A.N.D.Y, Moby and even bloody Laurent Garnier's 'The man with the red face'... possibly the greatest dance track ever produced!
So, in a nutshell, as a collective comp for more than fifteen years worth of music, it ain't bad... there's no Cafe del Mar or Chris's 'Changes'... but it's pretty damn good. Lets not pretend the average bedroom DJ couldn't get these and put the the whole thing together is a slightly more creative fashion, but this isn't about an individual, it's just about enjoying some solid beats. All in all, I'd give it an 7.5/10 and definitely recommend it for anybody who's looking to get their other-half a dance-orientated Christmas pressie!

Tom Neville sees his first outing on Rising Music
with some Nu Disco flavoured House in the form of Run In Reverse.
The Original Mix is a Nu Disco inspired House track that sees Tom fusing
classic themes with modern production techniques. Vintage drum machines sounds
are juxtaposed next to contemporary side chained pads, while the bass line is
set firmly to triplets, as all good bass lines should be.
Chris Lake and Lys' remix moves the track into peak time territory, keeping the
original bassline while adding tougher drums, grooving synth stabs and some bit
crushing for good measure.
Classic disco with a modern twist, Mr Moroder would be proud.
